Hi, I’m Tanner, and welcome.
If you’ve ever felt like managing money should be simple—but somehow never is—you’re in the right place.
Why I Started This Site
This site is all about simple, practical personal finance using budgeting, smart money habits, and realistic planning that actually fits real life. Not extreme frugality, nor financial jargon, and definitely not “stop spending money on everything you enjoy.”
Like a lot of people, I enjoy hobbies that cost money. For me, that looks like going to the golf course for a round with friends, catching up on my yearly reading list, or maintaining my grass and landscaping.
And for a long time, enjoying those things came with stress from spending too much when I knew the money could be used elsewhere in my budget. I’d ask myself:
- “Should I really be spending money on this?”
- “Am I being irresponsible?”
- “Why does budgeting feel like it means giving up my hobbies?”
What I realized is this – the problem wasn’t my hobbies. The problem was how money was being managed around them.
So many budgets treat fun as an afterthought—whatever’s left over, if anything. And when enjoyment isn’t planned for, it always feels like a mistake.
That’s where this site comes in.
My Goal: Make Money Simple and Practical
My goal is to help you understand your money and where it’s going, budget without stress or guilt, use practical systems to manage your money instead of willpower, make intentional choices with your spending and saving, and enjoy the things you care about—on purpose.
I believe personal finance should:
- Be simple, not complicated
- Be practical, not extreme
- Generously give to those you care about
- Support a life you actually enjoy
Good budgeting doesn’t mean cutting joy.
It means planning for it.

What You’ll Find Here
On this site, you’ll find beginner-friendly budgeting advice with simple explanations of money tools and apps that include real-life examples for everyday people. I want this site to be a place for honest discussions about spending, saving, giving, and life’s priorities whether that’s budgeting to pay down debt, saving for a big trip, or planning for your newest expensive hobby.
A lot of what I write will connect money budgeting for your hobbies without guilt, planning for the big purchases without stress, managing irregular expenses, or making room for fun without blowing up your finances. So whether hobbies are golf, gardening, reading, or something completely different, the principles are the same.
